Halliburton Energy Services

I completed two internships with Halliburton as a field engineering intern during the Summer of 2017 and Summer 2018. During both internships, I got the opportunity to spend time at one of the company's global headquarters in Houston, and spent the majority of my internships at their San Antonio Operations facility. I was most recently assigned with Baroid and spent weeks living on different rig sites to experience the life of a fluids engineer. I also completed tasks with administrative roles to learn about planning of operations and interactions with customers. I concluded this recent internship with a presentation, in which I shared my ten week long assessment of the department's processes for service quality.

During the Summer of 2017, I rotated throughout Halliburton's cement, production enhancement, tools, and coil tubing product service lines. I experienced the schedule of being a field engineer as I spent time in the office, in the labs, and in rotations at oil rig and well sites across the Eagleford. I also got the opportunity to spend time with Business Development in Dallas and toured one of the company's largest manufacturing facility.

Some cool things I was able to do:

  • Conduct and verify calculations for cement jobs

  • Observe rig up process and how equipment is run

  • Spend time on Halliburton's test rig facility

  • Tour Halliburton's manufacturing facility

  • See how down hole tools are prepared

  • Prepare fiber optic cable for down hole monitoring

  • Observe preparation and line of tool strings

  • Observe frac stages alongside engineers

  • Test water samples for production enhancement

  • Hydrate and break test slurries for production enhancement

  • Live on rig sites for five day rotations

El Paso Rubber Recycling

I spent my first summer in college as a part time student and as an intern at a friend's start-up company, El Paso Rubber Recycling. I worked with five other friends, three as company founders and mentors and two as interns. We were needed to approach the issue of rubber waste in the El Paso area by implementing the rubber in a multitude of solutions for the community. We worked as a team as well as individually to create rubber compounds. We designed these compounds with end consumer product use in mind. With an interest in Materials Science and Engineering, getting hands on experience with and conducting research on catalysts and bonding for the difficult rubber material is an aspect of this internship that I appreciate. I was also chosen to take on the responsibility of handling business acumen and product development portions of our teamwork.
